News & FAQ
- PCB – Printed circuit board. This is the bare board itself without any electronic components.
- PCA – Printed circuit assembly. This is the board populated with all electronics components.
- PCBA – Printed circuit board assembly. This is the completed board with all components.
Printed Circuit Boards or PCBs as the abbreviation is known in the industry is a board that is used to place a chip or electronic components. PCBs can be rigid or flexible and can have electronic components on one side or both depending on the design of the board.
With the goal being to integrate your electronic components onto your designed printed circuit board (PCB). The PCB works as the hub of your electronic design, insulating the electronic components connected to the PCB allowing for electrical current to safely pass through your PCB.
Like determining the cost of a custom PCB, determining what is including in the cost of your order is best worked out with a member of the U Choice team to make sure nothing is missed in your printed circuit board (PCB) design, along with what any cost savings that could achieved with a volume production instead of an individual board.
The most common causes of failures in PCB assembly can usually be narrowed down to the following:
- Design Flaw (most commonly)
- Power failure on board
- Overheating due to component crowding
- Weak soldering points
